Routes is a grassroots, non-profit organization that’s all about connecting people with the supports and services they need to improve their quality of life. Our team of carefully screened, compassionate volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to provide available, accessible and affordable transportation to people who are restricted due to life circumstances such as financial hardship, health issues, and geographic, social or cultural isolation. Every year, Routes provides thousands of rides to people in need.
Routes is funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Town of Georgina, the Regional Municipality of York and through private donations from citizens and local businesses.
our strategic direction:
What’s ahead for Routes – Our Board of Directors identified an emerging five-year strategy that continues to build on what we do best – getting people from here to there through the lens of our enduring philosophy of “neighbours helping neighbours”. In fact, we’re growing our capacity to connect our community and serve residents in need all across York Region by increasing our knowledge base of every available transportation option.
Transportation Solution Partner – Acting on opportunities to expand knowledge and service integration with community partners, including other transportation providers, will help us evolve into a true Transportation Solution Partner – an organization that will steer people to the best transportation alternatives for their situation. Our goal is to optimize regional resources as well as our own, and thereby eliminate service duplication.
The Routes organization is comprised of dedicated individuals who serve as staff, volunteers, and Board Members. Our strong foundation includes a great model of volunteerism, a positive reputation, and constructive relationships with many partners, funders and more. We look forward to making an even bigger difference by building more connections across our community.
